Our Story

Hi, I'm Tess. Here I am pictured with my grandmother Trish.

Her passing in 2021 was one of the main reasons I wanted to push myself to get out of my comfort zone and start my own business. She taught me how to sew and we ventured to fabric stores together to source the next project she would work on. Over the time we spent together we had many chats about sustainability and the future of humanity and how we could all make a difference. We really bonded over lots but especially these two topics.

The idea for Wrappt was born at Christmas of 2019. My family were sitting around the lounge room, exchanging gifts for Kris Kringle etc and as I watched all the people struggling to rip open the gifts, I see the scrunched up plastic coated wrapping paper lying on the floor - I realised that it wasn’t recyclable and was destined for landfill.

When I returned home, I found Furoshiki, a Japanese tradition for transporting and handing over gifts and goods in elaborate fabrics that has been used since 710 BC.

A local op shop was stocked with rolls of fabric in all sorts of colourful and eye-catching patterns and it hit me; fabrics are durable, washable and, re-usable.

And so Wrappt started...

The shop opened up in April 2022.

Our Mission

Wrappt Melbourne is changing the way we all gift - using recycled fabric and transforming it into repurposed, unique, and impressive gift wraps and ribbons to impress your next gift receiver.
